Organising a Bike Rodeo in School
The best time to play outdoors would be in the spring. As soon as the weather permits, you can start organising games such as a bicycle race. But aside from providing entertainment, make the event educational as well. Below are simple steps on how you can arrange a successful bike rodeo.
Find a suitable race track, preferably a paved area or the parking lot in school. It must be huge enough to accommodate the number of participants.
To make planning easier on your part, seek the assistance and supervision of other adults. It would be better if you can find people who are knowledgeable about cycling and the preventive measures necessary in the sport. You could also ask firemen and policemen to handle the lectures on bike safety. If you cannot find any, then have youth volunteers help you in your endeavour.
Map out the course that participants should follow. Make sure that it follows a linear path to avoid cyclists from colliding with other riders when they make a turn.
Set up helmet fitting and bicycle checking stations. This is where the children's bikes will be verified for compliance with the regulations and that the participants are wearing the right safety gear before the competition begins.
Once all that is done, you can then raise the flag and start the fun. For sure, every child racing for the win as well as adult spectators will be entertained.
